Bridget (called Idget by Chef), is the sweetest, most kind-hearted Bergen from Trolls, and the current queen of the Bergens. She became King Gristle Jr.'s wife now known as Queen Bridget some time prior to Trolls Holiday.

She's based off of Cinderella from the fairytale of the same name.

Appearance

In Trolls, Bridget is a purple Bergen with pink cheeks, and short light purple hair that's styled in pig tails with two pink rubber bands. She has unique pink-red eyes with yellow sclera and a small light green nose. She also has a grey unibrow and crooked teeth that stick out of her mouth. She wears a pink dress with a lacy collar and sleeves, a tattered and dirty apron, white girly underpants, white lacy socks, and pink Mary Jane shoes with yellow flower buckles.

When she is Lady Glittersparkles, she wears a dark pink jumpsuit with purple markings, a white belt, and silver platforms.

In Trolls Holiday and Trolls World Tour as Queen, she wears a pink cape with a jewel of the same color, and a small crown. She also has a rainbow weave on her pigtails to make them look more colorful and longer.

According to The Art of the Trolls, Bridget is considered unattractive to other Bergens except Gristle due to her short height, which is hinted to be a form of dwarfism, a trait Gristle also shares.

Personality

While most Bergens appear to be quite cruel and mean-spirited, Bridget is sweet and kind. She's willing to do anything in order to get just one date with King Gristle Jr., even helping the Trolls. She lacks confidence at first because of her title as a mere scullery maid, thinking that Gristle was beyond her and he wouldn't want her. Even though, she's a good person, and is willing to sacrifice herself to protect those she cares about.

Like Gristle, she didn't understand what happiness was and didn't realize that certain feelings she felt were signs of happiness. But by befriending the Trolls, she finally understands that true happiness is always around, and is extremely willing to accept it.

Although originally submissive and meek, Bridget later learns to stand up for herself against Chef by throwing a spoon at her as a means for helping the Trolls to defeat her.

Relationships

King Gristle Jr.

Bridget had a secret crush on King Gristle Jr. since her childhood. However, she was too afraid to tell him because she thought he won't feel the same way. But in the end, when Gristle realizes that Lady Glittersparkles is Bridget, he realizes that he doesn't need to eat Trolls to be happy, and it turns out he also loves Bridget.

Chef

Bridget was a former assistant of Chef. Chef acted very mean to her, throwing pots and dishes on her head and insulting her. Bridget ultimately gains the courage to retaliate against Chef and protect the Trolls from her.

Queen Poppy

Bridget is touched by Poppy, who is the first Troll to befriend her. They quickly become best friends.

In "Trolls Holiday", Bridget speaks out on how Poppy's behavior is inconsiderate, but does feel guilty for unwittingly hurting Poppy's feelings. To make up for it, she and Gristle decide to set up a holiday that symbolizes the Bergens' friendship with the Trolls, and she and Poppy reconcile with each other.

History

Trolls

Bridget is first seen in the film as a child in the throne room watching her crush Prince Gristle asking his father King Gristle Sr. what will make him happy now, after the Bergen delicacy Trolls escaped, to which the King replies nothing will, which saddens Bridget.

Twenty years later, a now-adult Bridget has seen once again in the throne room with Gristle (who is now known as King Gristle Jr.). As Gristle bemoans of how he'll never feel happy, Chef (whom King Gristle Sr. had banished from Bergen Town after the Trolls escaped) arrives and is able to convince him into letting her return to royal court after revealing that she captured some Trolls.

Bridget is tasked by Chef to guard the Trolls in preparation for Trollstice. Just then Poppy and Branch arrive to save the other Trolls. They discover that Bridget is in love with Gristle as she sings "Hello", so Poppy and the Snack Pack strike a deal with her; if Bridget releases the Trolls, they will help her get a date with the King. The Trolls give Bridget a makeover by giving her sparkly clothes and use they own hair to make hers colorful. Bridget later comes to Gristle under the name of "Lady Glittersparkles". When he gets smitten by her, she's able to get a date with him at Captain Starfunkle's pizza and rollerskating arcade.

During the date where Gristle invites Bridget to be his plus one at Trollstice, Poppy and the other Trolls discover that Creek is being kept inside Gristle's jewel on his cloak. Chef then arrives, causing Bridget (in fear of Chef recognizing her) to leave, but ends up leaving a rollerskate behind, which Gristle keeps. After returning to her room, Bridget asks the Trolls if they could disguise her at Trollstice, but they reply that they can no longer help her, as they need to rescue Creek.

When Poppy and the other Trolls are captured by Chef and the other Bergen cooks (after being sold out by Creek, who wished to save himself from being eaten), Bridget arrives to free them before they get served during Trollstice. She tells the Trolls to go as she's ready to be punished for treason. Bridget takes the cooking pot to the other Bergens. Upon discovering the pot empty, Chef accuses Bridget of eating the Trolls herself.

Just at that moment, Poppy and the other Trolls arrive, revealing to Gristle that Bridget is Lady Glittersparkles, and that Bergens don't need to eat Trolls to be happy, as he felt happiness during his date. Chef, trying to maintain that eating Trolls is the only way for Bergens to be happy, tries to force-feed Branch to Gristle, but Poppy saves him. The Trolls and Bergens then begin to dance together, angering Chef further. Just as Chef tries to attack the Trolls for a second time, Bridget throws a spoon at her, causing her to fall into the pot and get rolled out of Bergen Castle.

Bridget is last seen dancing with Gristle, Poppy, Branch, and the other Trolls and Bergens.

Trolls Holiday

Bridget, now Queen of the Bergens, is first seen on her throne with King Gristle Jr.

Because of the retirement of Trollstice, the Bergens no longer had anything to celebrate, which left them having nothing to look forward to. They kept receiving cards from the Trolls for each holiday.

Gristle seemed concerned about the Trolls' holidays when Poppy tried to give the Bergens one of theirs (mostly because he had been a victim to all their demonstrations). He became increasingly frustrated until Bridget told Poppy she needed to leave.

After Poppy left, Gristle got annoyed about the demonstration, as it left a mess of foam, glitter and streamers everywhere, which Chad and Todd had to clean up. He gave an idea to Bridget upon saying something something, and she gets him to work on it.

They, along with the other Bergens, make a new holiday celebrating their friendship with the Trolls, Troll-A-Bration Day.

Trolls World Tour

Gristle and Bridget appear in the post-movie credits, after Poppy and Branch fly off. They get upset upon finding out that they missed the party. She reminds Gristle to mind his language until she realizes that he's talking about the cheeseballs he made.

Character Concept

Bridget went under a lot of testing to get her teeth correct, as they stuck out like picket fences, and the animators had to make it look like they weren't falling out.

Bridget's character design was made from the idea of her voice actress, Zooey Deschanel. Her personality was envisioned by Deschanel imagining Bridget had an angel on the tip of her tongue she didn't want to wake up, which was director Mike Mitchell's direction for her.

The Lady Glittersparkles disguise is based on a typical attire for a 1970s female celebrity, also known as a Diva.[2]

Official Website

Bridget is sweet, kind-hearted Bergen in Bergen Town. She is the dishwasher and scullery maid to her mean-spirited boss, Chef. She’s sensitive and softspoken. Through a song, we find out that Bridget has a secret crush on King Gristle Jr., but she lacks the confidence to speak out. When Bridget meets Poppy and the Snack Pack, they hatch a plan to give Bridget the confidence she needs to act like a total babe, so she can catch the eye of the King.

  • She believes in herself, but unsure how to communicate that to others.
  • Bridget wants to find happiness in a way that’s different from other Bergens.
  • Bridget always treats others with respect, even if they do not respect her.
  • Bridget doesn't look bigger when she becomes an adult, instead, she looks just as big when she was a child, perhaps hinting that she may have Napoleon Complex or dwarfism.
  • Bridget loves King Gristle Jr, but some people think he's pretty ugly. Poppy probably feels the same way because when she was trying to tell Bridget things to say about the King, she couldn't find one good thing about him.
  • There is no proof that Bridget hasn't indulged in the guilty pleasure of Troll happiness.

Trivia

  • The full name of her alter-ego from Trolls was "Lady Glittersparkles Seriously". Biggie says "Lady", Guy Diamond says "Glitter", Smidge says "Sparkles" and Branch says "Seriously?", questioning the ridiculous nature of the other Trolls' choice. However, as a gag, Bridget, having been told to say whatever the Trolls said, says "Seriously", not realizing that wasn't meant to be part of the name. For the most part she was just called "Lady Glittlersparkles", leaving "Seriously" out.
  • Bridget is older than Gristle; she started working as a child in the castle while Gristle was a toddler.
  • Bridget's room was actually inspired by Branch's bunker.
    • In fact, Branch and Bridget draw parallels to each other, alongside their respective love interests Poppy and King Gristle Jr.
  • In Two-Party System, it is revealed that her birthday is 1 day before Branch's.
