"Cakes on a Train" is the first segment of the 1st episode of the second season in the Trolls: TrollsTopia series, and the 26th overall episode in the series. It premiered on March 18, 2021.
Synopsis[]
Everyone is excited to celebrate the launch of the new Metroll Station train system with a magnificent Perfection Cake. But when the brakes fail, it's up to Poppy and Branch to do everything in their power to save that cake.
Plot[]
Poppy addresses the Tribal Council on the progress of their latest project, which has been "adequate". She introduces the TrollsTopia Metroll Station train system which excites Synth, Val Thundershock, Lownote Jones, Holly Darlin' and Dante Crescendo. Branch, Rhythm & Blues are still tuning up the train, but the council still celebrates it. Holly comments that Poppy needs to warn them before unveiling something awesome and Poppy begins to play on the progression from it.
As the Trolls praise it, Dante is worried that their festivities planned for tomorrow won't live up to the magnitude of the celebration of this progress. Poppy claims that she already plans to have a Perfection Cake to carry with them while they ride the train. They admire the cake's picture, and it is noted that anyone who eats from it weeps from sheer joy. Poppy has already prepared it, and has Sky Toronto's team working on the cake as of 3 weeks ago, since the conditions for the cake have to be pristine. Rhythm & Blues raise a concern, as perfection cakes only last an hour after baking. Branch explains the train won't travel around the track in such time. Rhythm & Blues say that they were going to work on the loop-de-loop track, but they can upgrade the train instead. Branch objects to the upgrade, since it will involve having to pull out vital parts of the engine, though a picture of the Perfection Cake changes his mind.
They upgrade the train, and the next day the cake is locked onto it. The sight of the cake is enough for the Trolls loading it to awe at its glory. Poppy stresses, as they have an hour to get around the track. The train passes Rock Hollow, Classical Crest and Techno Lagoon. Holly asks them if they can slow down for Country Corral, since she wants to give a "woo-hoo". Branch quickly finds out that the brakes were never put back during the upgrade. This means the train can't slow down.
Branch stresses, saying that he will just pull the emergency break, but the Funk sisters tell him the cake won't survive the sudden deceleration. Holly and the sisters try to stop or slow it down, but all fail. Holly is blown away and the sisters end up being bubble-beamed away. Branch says the emergency break is the only way. Poppy tries to slow it down with her hair.
As Branch congratulates her for breaking the laws of physics, the train is suddenly pushed back; now it is heading backwards down the unfinished loop-de-loop track. Branch breaks the seriousness and Poppy admits defeat. Branch concludes it's best to let the train derail, as nothing in TrollsTopia ever goes as planned. As they talk, Poppy has an idea and goes to ask the Funk sisters if they can get the Trolls to the loop-de-loop track; they comply.
Nearing the loop-de-loop, Poppy loads the confetti cannon on the train with cake, and fires the pieces at all the trolls. With most of the cake gone, they pull the break just in time to prevent the train derailment. The two comment on how it didn't go as planned, but Poppy wouldn't have it any other way.
