Personality[]
Dante Crescendo is a prim, proper and posh Troll who can be a little uptight and stuffy, but is pretty much a kind and friendly gentleman. He can from time to time ignore things that he doesn't consider worth his time. He has a certain amount of eccentricity, being a perfectionist who likes to find inspiration for his works and tends to overreact or get overdramatic with situations. He has high standards in both himself and others and enjoys when others meet his expectations. He dislikes disappointment, especially from himself and is hard on himself at times. He often seeks approval of others as seen in "My Dinner with Dante", and can get into great lengths to please them. He worries about what is "in" and doesn't want his work to be seen as irrelevant. Dante also highly praises the skills of other Trolls throughout the series and admires that which he believes should be admired. This even included Pigtail's Truffle finding skills in "Truffle Trouble", and despite Pigtail's antics in the episode.
Despite being highly proud and finding many of the things other Troll Tribes do horrifying such as Cooper's cupcakes, it doesn't let that put him off from being a socialite among the residents of TrollsTopia. He tends to join in a variety of activities, including ones that don't seem to fit with his Tribes exceptions. At times, he is boastful about his title as royal composer, and is proud of his Classical culture. Like many of his tribe, especially those who have sought the Joy Chord from Ludwig van Beetrollven, Dante has issues with humility and can be a snob at times. However, Beetrollven managed to make Dante understand that humility is important.
However, Dante's constant problem is with Trolls not of his intellectual standards and when paired up with Synth in "Mini Mini Golf", he tries to switch partners with Poppy because Branch's approach to the game matched his own focus, while Synth's did not. When Synth messed up and the pair ended up lost, he blamed Synth for their predicament but soon realizes that he shouldn't blame Synth when he sees how Synth recoils hard on himself. While he asks Synth has confidence in himself, he fails to put confidence in others and in the episode it nearly cost him and Synth his life.
From time to time, he makes Classical music-based puns.
In "Clash of the Battle Piñatas", Dante reveals he actually likes destruction, as he puts it as "Dante likey". Unexpectedly during the episode, he took on the appearance of a Rock Troll complete with jacket and black eye shadow, while holding a electric guitar. The event seemed to bring out a different side of him that contrasts his normal self. He also made it clear he liked the idea of destroying something beautiful.
In "Race to the Crest", Dante was unable to get out of his comfort zone for most of the episode, refusing to do anything that was dangerous or icky. But by the end of the episode, thanks to Val's advice and encouragement, he learned that it is good and important for him to step out of his comfort zone.
Relationships[]
Cooper[]
Dante was paired up with Cooper in "The Buddy System" by Poppy and Branch's initial effort to get different tribes to bond and become friends. They got along fine but still needed time to get acquainted with each other (though Dante was horrified and disgusted by Cooper's ability to produce cupcakes).
By "Palentine's Day", Cooper and Dante were on a less harsher reaction to each other, as Cooper was left asking Dante if he would be his Palentine.
Synth[]
Dante and Synth didn't interact much until "Mini Mini Golf", something Poppy picked up on herself. The main problem is that Dante is a serious and sensible Troll and Synth loves to have fun making the pair opposites. The two become friends at the end of the episode with Dante even coming to enjoy Synth's dubstep.
Branch[]
The pair get along quite well. Dante was convinced he was his next muse. Branch even learned he was another troll who hates Cloud Guy. They are both even being serious.
Cloud Guy[]
In "Cloud Control", Dante is revealed to be another Troll annoyed by Cloud Guy on a regular basis and he celebrated his "annoyversary" with him and the other Trolls he likes to annoy. It was never stated why Cloud Guy likes to annoying Dante, but based on his response it is likely because Dante tries, but can't, best him at his own wit.
Ludwig van Beetrollven[]
In "The Joy Chord", Dante was one of the many Trolls who came to him to seek the knowledge of the Joy Chord, but like many others he was treated at first to a Troll that was nothing like Dante imagined. Dante was thoroughly put off and disgusted by the way Beetrollven acted, finding him nothing like the hero he imagined in appearance, manners and speech. After Dante leaves and display humility, the two reconcile and Dante is taught the technique. The episode ends with the pair sharing Puffalo Wings together and Dante gaining an appreciation for sauce.
Forte Crescendo[]
Seen in "Big Brother Dante", the pair were close prior to Dante moving to TrollsTopia. However, he struggled when Forte took to Techno Trolls music to compete with his brother's new interest. He resolved their differences in the end.
Dante's Pet Cricket[]
Dante has a pet cricket and a BPF as seen in "BPF". The pet's name is never spoken, it is shown to be chirping to Dante's baton.
Skills & Abilities[]
He has most normal Troll abilities, as well as the abilities of his Tribe.
Music[]
Dante is a music composer who knows how to play the violin and the grand piano, and has the position of "royal composer" in his Tribe. He was also seen acting as a conductor in the series. In "My Dinner with Dante", he was shown to play the violin. In "Clash of the Battle Piñatas", he plays the guitar and complies (rather inexpertly) with Rock music, even dressing up to look like a Rock Troll.
As of "The Joy Chord", Dante now knows the secret of the Chord that can inflict a feeling of joy just by hearing it.
In "Mini Mini Golf", it was mentioned that his conductor’s baton summons music note critters to sing for him.
Dante is also the inventor of the "Musical Score", as seen in "A Life Less Score-dinary". A classical Troll technique which can influence other Trolls by adding music to mundane things. If Lownote Jones adds narration to the score, its impact is even greater. The negative side, is that Trolls don't need more excitement as it is too much for them which makes them less happy.
Socialization[]
Despite being a Classical Troll with high standards, Dante is shown to get involved with a lot of social events, and enjoys attending parties. Based on his words in "Mouth Guitar" towards Blaze Powerchord's concert, he doesn't want to be seen as a Troll who isn't "in" on any social event.
Cuisine[]
Starting with the episode "My Dinner with Dante", he owns a restaurant named "Chez Dante", dedicated to fine dining from Classical Troll cuisine.
Dante also uses Chocolate Truffles to make desserts, and he's a keen scavenger of the fungi, though he typically can't find them without aid from someone else.
Children's Entertainment[]
In "Dante the Entertainer", Dante pulled a balloon sword from a stone, and in the process was told his destiny to be a great Children's Entertainer. Being a prude to the idea he objected as he had nothing in common with the kids, but didn't want to deny his destiny and the children. After a week proved he didn't fit the mold for entertaining children, as he kept turning entertaining things to the kids into mundane things that fit his own ideals. This is because it turns out he wasn't great at any of the traditional skills that entertain children and instead, the sword choose him for his talents at music which was highly entertaining to the children and after learning how children actually prefer to be entertained.
Sports[]
Dante likes miniature golf and takes it as seriously as Branch, even wearing a golfing get up.
Humor[]
In the episode "Don't Make Me Laugh!", he was chosen to represent the Classical Trolls, his technique involved ventriloquism and he used his dummy, Caruthers. He was beaten by Cooper in the tournament when Cooper pulled out a sock puppet.

Etymology[]
His first name was possibly taken from Dante Symphony by Franz Liszt, written as a ode to Dante Alighieri's written piece Divine Comedy, or even from the writer himself. "Dante" could also be a nod to the music terminology "Andante" which means "slow melody".
A "crescendo" is the loudest point of the end of a gradual increase in volume of a music piece. It is normally marked by a "<", and is the opposite of a decrescendo, which indicates the quietest point of a music piece and is marked by a ">". In literature, it also means "to reach the height of intensity of a story or a character's development".
The implied meaning of his name is "slow melody that increases in loudness".
Trivia[]
- In "The Buddy System", a Troll named "Odnecserc Etand" is mentioned. This was a joke as the Troll's name is "Dante Crescendo" backwards.
- Like the other Tribes "pairs", Dante and Minuet are opposites. Minuet is very open to new things and takes interest in new things as it challenges her, whereas Dante can be reluctant to open up at times, sticking often to the things he knows. Dante also asks for standards, whereas Minuet asks for respect.
- Their contrast is also seen in their reactions to Trolls like Synth. Minuet and Synth became good friends, to the point she rode the Tunnel of Friendship with him. But Dante took a while to get used to Synth due to his behavior and initially got annoyed with him. Minuet has a lot of patience for the Techno Troll but Dante had to learn it.
- Dante is the second character in the Trolls franchise to be voiced by JP Karliak, after Pistil Patrick in the Trolls: The Beat Goes On! episode "Three Trolls-Keteers".
- Incidentally, Karliak also voices another DreamWorks character, Theodore Lindsey "Ted" Templeton, in The Boss Baby: Back in Business and its follow-up series The Boss Baby: Back in the Crib.
