Synopsis[]
When Holly gives Poppy a large hairstyle, Poppy doesn't want to hurt Holly's feelings by admitting that her hair is just too big.
Plot[]
Poppy, Holly Darlin', and Smidge are playing a game of "Troll, Troll, Bergen" when Holly asks Poppy if it is natural for Smidge to take 20 minutes to choose "Bergen". She says "no", but this is the deluxe version of the game. Smidge chooses Holly as Bergen and they run a short obstacle course before Smidge sits down and signals Holly is it. While touching Trolls' hair, she touches Poppy's and realizes she has really nice hair. Holly explains that she's an "amateur professional" when it comes to hair, and wants Poppy to let her style her hair; Poppy checks her schedule and thinks it is the greatest idea.
There is a montage of Holly cutting Poppy's hair which ends with a reveal at Country Corral that she has styled Poppy's hair into a large hairdo, which baffles even the other Country Trolls. Seeing Holly ecstatic about it makes Poppy tell her that she loves it.
As she says she loves it, the scene switches to her and Branch. She explains she loves spending "BFF time" with Holly, but Branch points out she doesn't love the hair. He tells her to just tell Holly it is too big. He is interrupted by Gust Tumbleweed, who says it would also risk a Holly Darlin' guilt trip. Gust warns that Holly is adapted at making a Troll feel really guilty. He once forgot to RSVP to one of her parties and was told "I am not mad. Just disappointed.", which hit him hard and knocked him out the door. Poppy is fine and she says she will surely get used to her big hair in time. Soon enough she rolls away.
Later while talking to Val Thundershock about her feeling vulnerable, Poppy finds that the hair makes listening to Val impossible. When the hair topples over, Val stops and walks away, losing Poppy the chance to connect to Val. At a Classical Troll music concert, Poppy's hair stops Minuet seeing easy from her chair behind her, alongside a bunch of other Trolls. Poppy ends up watching from a distance way back behind everyone else, but even the flowers and fungi can't see the concert.
She rolls down the hill and lands on a sunbed next to Branch he pulled to catch her with. She admits, her hair is just too big. Branch asks her if she's going to do his suggestion and get it styled the way she wants and just confess to Holly it was too big. Poppy won't, as she still doesn't want to offend Holly. Instead, she wants to stage a freak accident involving a a Hair-Eating Crunch Clover with Branch's help.
Branch drops a banana cupcake and Poppy slides on it, Poppy even refused to put the cupcake next to the plant during this as it would make it too obvious. She falls to land near a Hair-Eating Crunch Clover as planned. They repeated it several times with Branch getting more and more tired of helping. On take 47, she finally pulls it off and the flower eats her big hair.
At Country Corral, Holly explains to Poppy why her hair is back to normal. She ensures her it's not her fault, to Poppy's relief, but she soon says it's the fault of whomever dropped the cupcake. Holly rushes off to find them to Poppy's horror.
At the scene of Poppy's staged accident, Holly finds the cupcake. Despite Poppy not thinking Holly will find out who discarded it, Holly figures out it was Branch. Holly recognizes his "adorable" fingerprints. Holly rushes off now to give him a guilt trip of a lifetime. Poppy rushes off to Branch.
Branch is relaxing in his bunker after another day of trying to understand Poppy when Poppy bursts in on him and tells him to pack a bag and run. Before he can get an answer on who is coming, Holly appears. Holly spots he has a bag packed and says its fitting he's about to go on a trip. Poppy tries to stop Holly but is fumbling her words. Branch is lost for words as Holly puts him on the spotlight and begins her guilt trip over Poppy liking the hairstyle and Holly taking the commitment to work it. As Holly gives Branch the guilt trip look, Poppy is unable to help him. She says "I am not mad, just disappointed." as Poppy tries to stop her.
Poppy finally confesses she told Branch to drop the cupcake. She claims that she didn't like her big hair. Holly's feeling are hurt, but sometimes that just happen. Holly is disappointed, but happy that Poppy confessed and was honest about it and she'll get over it. Poppy is free to style her hair as she wants; she suggests a mohawk, but Holly says "no".
Their attention is turned to Branch, who is struggling. He goes into a fetal position as the girls go to comfort him. She makes it up to him by styling his hair. Branch says he loves it; Poppy then falls victim to his hair as a bird lands on it and he rolls over.
