"Daylight Ravings Time" is the second segment of the 5th episode of the third season of Trolls: TrollsTopia, and the 47th overall episode in the series. It premiered in June 10, 2021.
Synopsis[]
When Laguna is chosen to lead a celebratory rave, she turns to DJ Suki and Poppy to help her develop a confident DJ persona.
Plot[]
Laguna Tidepool is observing her own people at the afterlunch pre-naptime rave when Synth makes announcements and "technocalities". Tonight is Daylight Ravings Time, the once-a-year moment when because of some "science-y stuff" they get an extra hour to party a year. The rave clock is pulled out and it begins the count down to that night's Rave. As is tradition, last year's DJ picks this year's one. He chooses Laguna to her surprise, and states he can't wait to see her on stage. Though she says she won't let them all down, the scene soon changes to her standing in front of Poppy and DJ Suki, saying she will let them all down.
Poppy states Laguna is a Techno Troll and has been to hundreds of raves; Laguna corrects that to "thousands": she has been to 10,483. The problem is she has never DJ'ed one of them. She does, however, want to DJ the Daylight Ravings Time rave, because being DJ is an honor, but she's an observer and not a performer; she doesn't bring "da noise", she documents it once "da noise" has already been brought. DJ Suki states she already has the quality of any DJ: she's unique, the technical stuff she can be taught in an hour. Upon saying that, DJ Suki corrects herself once she realizes what she has implied about her own profession.
Poppy and DJ gather some of TrollsTopia's most agreeable Trolls as a test audience. DJ explains to get things started as she just puts on her favorite track and says "whe-uh!"; Laguna puts on "Jane Huggenmeyer's Disservation of Troll Hair Patterns". This doesn't go down well at all, but the Trolls still attempt to dance to it. The next attempt is to scratch the record, but after an initial failure she scratches it so hard the records go flying and cut the hair of Poppy and DJ Suki. The last trick is to "make it your own", and in a nervous impulse, she tells everyone to put their feet in the air; this ends with the Trolls falling over.
With Laguna failing everything as DJ Laguna, DJ suggests something else and that she DJs under a pseudonym. Poppy notes that DJ's often pretend to be someone else as part of an act, and even DJ Suki played around in a helmet when she first started out. She puts a helmet on Laguna and states when she's on stage she'll be "DJ D-ssert" not "DJ Laguna". Despite Laguna's doubts, she is suddenly able to do everything she failed at.
The Techno Trolls are chanting at the Raving Party, which has just over 4 minutes to go on the clock. Laguna has studied the helmet and found it has further functions, DJ Suki tells her about the lasers, but this causes Laguna to be startled and she drops the helmet. The helmet lands near Laguna's fins, then it breaks into pieces. DJ Suki tells her to use the back up helmet getting Laguna's hopes high, but it turns out she is just panicking. As Synth is announcing the start of the party, Laguna is unable to go on stage despite Poppy stating she will be fine but Laguna wants a solution still. A Disc-glow Ball suddenly blooms next to her and she puts it on her head, stating this is better, but Poppy points out it is covering her eyes. Laguna states that "DJ Disc-Glow Ball" doesn't need eyes and goes out with the bud on her head.
Without vision, Laguna can't see what she is doing; she puts on a track, but plays it badly. The Fauna they are using as a DJ booth gets up as the music upsets it and starts walking across the Rave floor as Synth tries to help her. The Daylight Ravings Clock is also sent rolling and begins to roll after Trolls.
Synth asks Laguna if she is alright, but she is not. She explains she busted her helmet due to lasers, but Synth explains "they've all been there", and in a flashback he reveals he did the same to his own helmet as it fell, smashed and illogically burst into flames underwater. He concludes they should stop making laser masks. Synth then explains he chose her for a reason; he already knows she doesn't fit the mold of an ideal DJ, but she's unique and he picked her for that reason.
With Synth's speech done, Laguna is ready to bring "da noise". She calls for a retry and puts on "Jane Huggenmeyer's Disservation of Troll Hair Patterns" again. At first, she gets groans of disappointment, but Laguna soon begins to remix the documentary on the fly, creating an unique track that gets the party started. She tells the crowd to put their feet in the air, since they are underwater this causes the Trolls to float upwards and not fall over like before. Laguna gets a cheer from the crowd and the other Techno Trolls, Poppy and DJ Suki celebrate the successful rave by chanting her name.

Trivia[]
- The title is a pun on "daylight saving times" and the word "rave".
- The story is a nod to the Trolls: The Beat Goes On! episode "Party Crash Course", where Poppy had to teach DJ Suki on how to host a party.
- Synth says the Rave is that night, but the clock says they have 1:07:10:03 time until the rave, which is 1 day, 7 hours, 10 minutes and 3 seconds.
- The helmet where the Techno Trolls use in this episode is a reference to popular DJs and EDM musicians such as Marshmello (who is likely the inspiration behind the DJ D-ssert helmet), Deadmau5 and Daft Punk, who wear helmets that cover their faces.
- Laguna's "put your feet in the air" should have been "put you hands in the air".
- DJ Suki almost admits that the technical side of DJing isn't that hard and can be learnt in an hour, but corrects herself to hide how easy it is, noting a DJ has to put their own special spin on things. This was most likely a nod back to "DJ's Got Talent", wherein everyone in the talent show had picked up DJing skills as inspired by DJ Suki herself, making her own talent seem not so special.
- The story is about people who use a mask (literal and metaphorically speaking) to hide behind due to a lack of confidence.
