"Gal Pal Getawaycation" is the first segment of the 7th and final episode of the seventh season of Trolls: TrollsTopia, and the 102nd overall episode in the series. It premiered in August 11, 2022.
Synopsis[]
Val has gone out of her way to plan a vacation with Poppy and Holly, but the quaint little cabin in the woods turns out to be a neglected disaster. Not wanting all that planning to be in vain, Poppy and Holly try to convince Val that her vacation isn't anything less than perfect.
Plot[]
Val is driving in the Dune Huggy with Poppy and Holly and she pulls over. She admits they are not really driving to an emergency distress hug. Holly asks about the Cuddle Pup farm running dangerously low on snuggles. Holly and Poppy are relieved when Val says she made that up and Poppy answers it made no sense, as she has no idea how one would gather up Snuggle Pups on a farm and not snuggle them.
Val hands Poppy a book titled "Poppy, Holly, Val's getawaycation". Holly finds the "I love mayhem, chaos is epic, blah" Val, and Val explains she explored the library's travel catalog for 14 hours and came across this cabin (pod) in the wood. Val also organized a list of activities to do there, color-coded for each of them, and then snuck into their pods while they were out and stole some clothes. The other two girls are shocked, but Val says that becoming BFFs with them was important to her and changed her life so she wanted to celebrate it. The trio then set off to the cabin.
They arrive at the cabin, which is in a state of disrepair. Val is disappointed as this wasn't what she was expecting at all. When Val calls it a "heap", Holly and Poppy state that it is a cabin in the woods, so it is supposed to be rustic. The other two are happy to stay and Val goes to get their stuff.
When Val is gone, Holly falls through the floor boards and admits it is a heap. Since Val spent so much time planning their preparations to endure the stay, they don't want her growth in character to be set back by any failures. They agree that no matter want happens, they have to give the impression this is the greatest "getawaycation" ever. Upon trying to let in some sunlight, Grossums screech at her and the duo panic.
They are seen in a canoe and Val thanks them for sticking with the cabin. She thanks them for having her back no matter what, at which it turns out the canoe is leaking. Poppy and Holly (who are behind Val) plug the leaks with their hair and hands. Everything Val says is reflected by the canoe in damage. She gets off at the pier to get smore's, while Holly and Poppy are left clinging to the sinking canoe.
Their next activity is picking Marshtatoes from a "happy little garden". However, the garden has seen better days and is now overgrown. All Poppy sees is weeds and Poison Blue-ack where sunflowers and Marshtatoes should be. Poppy's hands swell up and turn blue, Holly finds Marshtatoes and one of the sunflowers, which has now gone wild. Val is enjoying her campfire and the two return in a bit of the state but with the Marshtatoes. Holly tosses one to Val and it lands in the fire, so she asks them to get another for her; the pair look at each other nervously.
A montage begins of things Val has planned going wrong with Poppy and Holly trying to cope, including stepping in more blue-ack and having their feet swell up.
Val states the trip's going great as they lay in bed. Val falls asleep and Poppy and Holly comment that they did it; all they have to do now is get through tomorrow and the getawaycation will have been a smashing success. Poppy turns off the light to the sound of cracking; the cabin is collapsing. The cabin plummets to the ground with the duo screaming, but Val remains asleep. Using their hair, the two manage to create a rope and Poppy tells Holly to confirm if Val's still asleep - she is. They then have the issue of pulling up the cabin without it falling as that would wake Val. The cabin is too heavy for the two of them, but waking up Val would mean she found out her trip was a disaster.
Just then, Poppy's hair snaps and they are forced to wake up Val. Val saves the two of them as the cabin falls to the ground below. She lands in the garden and the sunflower attacks them. The duo tries to persuade Val that the cabin is not a heap, but as they call it rustic one more time it completely collapses. The two confess to Val that they wanted to make the vacation out to be perfect in order to not discourage her.
Val answers that she won't be abandoning her personal growth over one failed vacation. She has changed over her time in TrollsTopia, and those changes are permanent now. She tells them they should have told her it was a pile of heap from the beginning, as she had a backup getawaycation planned in case, which Poppy and Holly promptly proceed with.
As they head off to the backup getawaycation, they realize they accidentally brought the sunflower with them.

Trivia[]
- The title is derived from "gal pal getaways", a nickname originally given by holidaymakers for holidays based on day trips that are specifically aimed at females.
- The plot is based on the "cabin in the woods" trope.
- This episode marks the eleventh and final time in the series the gag of "gravity does not work until you look down" occurred.
- This episode is the first time a non-Pop Troll (Val) used the term "pod" to describe a Troll's home.
- The story continues the storyline started by "The Fabyrinth", where Poppy, Val and Holly became BFFs (best friends forever). It is also the final episode in Val's story arc, confirming that the changes to her character throughout the series are permanent and will now affect her personality.
- The Blue-ack plant is a reference to the real world plant "Poison Ivy", known often to be a camping hazard. The plant's swelling ability is likely a nod to the novel Charlie and the Chocolate Factory; specifically, the fate of the character Violet, who eats gum that gives one the impression of eating a full course meal. The gum was still in testing due to issues, and failed when it got to the dessert part, which is blueberry pie. Violet ends up swelling like a giant blueberry and is taken off to be popped. She is seen at the end of the novel with a body that is now extremely flexible like gum, and her skin is now permanently blue.
- The storyboard animatic version of this episode can be watched here.
- This is the last episode of the series in which Branch does not appear in.
- The episode has only 3 characters in it and 3 voice actors, making it the episode with the least cast members and featured Trolls in it.
- This was Megan Hilty's favorite episode.[1]
