"Girls' Night" is the first segment of the 6th episode of the first season of Trolls: TrollsTopia, and the 10th overall episode in the series. It premiered on November 19, 2020.
Synopsis[]
After repeated invitations, Val reluctantly agrees to attend Poppy's girls' night. But can she get through the evening without letting her softer side show?
Plot[]
At Rock Hollow, Val Thundershock is practicing her Rocking skills in front of Demo. She is in excellent form and Demo approves. Val gets a invite from Poppy, to which she explains she has been receiving these invites for months, and Poppy can't take "ugh" for an answer. Poppy says that Val should give it one night, or she will unleash the full force of her hospitality. Val, finding the whole ordeal annoying, agrees to go for one night and all of the stuff with Poppy ends.
Val knows how the night will go with a lot of girly stuff, ending with them talking about their feelings. She goes on to explain that part of the issue of living in TrollsTopia is that she is getting the urge to express a softer side of herself she doesn't want to, and Demo sides with her. Val is afraid she will say something personal and she doesn't know how to stop it, but she has to come up with something. Demo and Val mosh it over in the Thinking Pit.
At Poppy's pod, Poppy, Holly Darlin', Rhythm and Blues, and Smidge are already present for the girls' night. They begin to work on each other's hair. Smidge congratulates her on even getting Val to show up, even though they didn't get her to come inside as she has already been outside wallflowering for 5 minutes. She tries to convince Val to come inside and let her hair down, so they could put it back up with cute ribbons.
Holly pulls the scoffing Val inside and they begin a montage of doing girly things with Val, who scowls over every moment of it. When the montage is over, they go to their next activity: pranking. This changes Val's attention. They throw streamers over King Peppy's house and put whipped cream on Gust Tumbleweed's hand, then rid the Dune Huggy around breaking piñatas and spilling candy everywhere.
After having a great time, Poppy congrats them. She wants to gather around now and have some share time. In desperation to avoid showing her soft side, she calls for a signal. When Demo appears, he claims Demo broke his favorite guitar pick. He claims Rock Trolls get very attached to their picks and this one has had it. Think their plan is working, they go to make an exit, but the girls pull in Demo so he can talk about his loss and they can show him support. He ends up breaking down and opens up in tears. They egg Val on, who slowly softens ups until she breaks.
Horrified, Val runs off howling like a wolf. Poppy runs after her and asks if she's okay, Val states she's not and it's Poppy's fault. Val explains she doesn't want to share things about herself like Poppy wants her to as she's scared about that part of herself. Keeping herself in check makes her feel safe and she doesn't want her personal stuff to be out there for everyone to see. Poppy says sharing just happens at girls' night, but if Val doesn't want to come Poppy won't invite her anymore. She did say they had a lot of fun tonight, so maybe the risk is worth it.
At the Pod, Demo has had his hair done up. Poppy explains Val's not coming back; she thinks that she really blew it. Demo tells her to come and talk about it. Val returns and tells them "Ew, stop!". She says that she will share one thing about herself. She admits that she really, really likes Flavor Berry lip gloss. She then asks if they want to go pranking again. As the other girls and Demo rush out, Val tells Poppy to wipe the smile off her face. Val admits she's only here for rowdiness only - and maybe a manicure later. Poppy is happy and cheers for the girls' night in the end.

Trivia[]
- A "girls' night" refers to the act of a group of females getting together to have a party on the basis of "no men/boys allowed".
- This is only the second episode to note any major things about gender, the previous example of "Troll Rangers" had CJ Suki and Priscilla shout "Girl Troll Power". Its rare that Trolls themselves give any example of gender division like this.
- Despite the quote of "Girl's Night", Demo is allowed to partake with the female Trolls despite being male in their activities, making the declaration of "Girl's Night" pointless.
- "Pick Jagger" is a play on "pick" and Mick Jagger.
- The moment Val is accused of "going soft" is a reference to the music genre "Soft Rock".
- Val notes in her guessing of what happens in Girl's Night is "we'll paint nails". She also asks for a manicure at the end of the episode. Trolls don't have fingernails or toenails, though.
- At the ball game where Val was playing, the Trolls with her were Smidge, Rhythm, Blues, Guy Diamond and Holly Darlin'. When Val runs off howling, the Trolls are Smidge, Guy, Dante Crescendo, Rhythm, Blues, Holly and Poppy. Dante and Poppy had joined the group despite not even being in the arena beforehand.
- Jim Mortensen used a still to example how his art style had changed for storyboards since 2019, revealing in the process this episode was storyboarded in 2019. This episode is currently the earliest confirmed production of any episode of the series.[1]
