Synopsis
[]

When Poppy injures her hair, Doctor Moonbloom insists she stay in bed until she has recovered. But that would mean missing the upcoming TrollsTopia statue commemoration! Branch and Val team up to make sure Poppy follows the doctor's orders and stays in bed to get her rest, no matter what.

Plot
[]

Poppy is carefully put on her bed by Branch, Val Thundershock, and Dante Crescendo due to a bad fracture in her hair. As Poppy says they have to let her get back to the party as her hair is fine, it cracks a bit more to the shock of the three. She brags she can fix it with the power of positivity, and her hair cracks much more. She corrects herself by claiming she can fix it with the power of doctors.

After checking Poppy's X-rays, Dr. Moonbloom notes that this is the worst she has ever seen, and as Dante faints she cleans her glasses and so that she can see better. Moonbloom asks Poppy how she fractured her hair. It turns out she moved a statue that was heavier than what her hair could hold while preparing the 9-week anniversary party for TrollsTopia she had planned for 8 and a half weeks. As Poppy finishes explaining the things she did at the party, Moonbloom is putting the final touches on Poppy's hair cast. Now that her hair is in a cast, Poppy wants to go back to preparing the party, but Moonbloom tells her she needs a day of bed rest, which means Poppy will miss the party she arranged. Moonbloom finishes with by saying that she has a very fun party to attend, and adorning a set of star-shaped glasses she exists Poppy's pod.

Poppy is upset because she cannot observe every detail about the party to make sure it is running smoothly. Dante has decided that he will see over all the details in her place and goes off to the party, also wearing a pair of star-shaped glasses. Poppy guesses that she should sit this one out as Val and Branch adorn glasses and leave. After they leave it doesn't take long for her to get fed up and try to attend the party anyway. As she goes to leave, Val and Branch step out in front of her; it turns out they didn't leave but hung around as both knew she wouldn't resist wanting to go to the party. They begin drawing lines with their feet and Poppy loses their game of tic-tac-toe, meaning that she lost the argument. Branch and Val tuck Poppy in and she vows to keep trying.

She places a scrapbooked doll in her bed and a tape of herself talking. She then sneaks out of the window, but is immediately caught as the Branch and Val standing by her door were also dolls. The dolls collapse as the tapes of Val and Branch play a line of congratulating themselves for being so good. Next, she tries to escape with a giant paper airplane, but Branch and Val create a fan with their hair to send her back in. She tries to reason with them and when it fails, she sings a song battle. She boasts about how good she is which causes Branch and Val to do the same. Her plan works as the two get so involved with singing about themselves, they get lost in song and don't notice Poppy has escaped in the Dune Huggy. Val is actually impressed with her escape, but Branch isn't worried as they know exactly where she is going.

Poppy grabs the attention of Smidge at the party. She states that she will just make sure the party is fine, then go back to bed. At that moment, Val and Branch turn up with a SWAT team of Fuzzling Trolls. Branch tells the Fuzzlings to search every corner, but also have a good time as this is their party too. The Fuzzlings adorn glasses and begin their search. Poppy decides to begin "party planning stealth mode" to continue.

She begins to make adjustments in secret such as adding dip for nachos, putting exciting music on, and outing umbrellas in cocktail drinks. She finishes just in time for Dante's ribbon cutting. Poppy realizes Dante is about to cut the ribbon with left-handed tailor grippers instead of regulation ribbon cutting sheers. Smidge imagines the scissors not cutting through the ribbon, causing the Trolls to panic and wreck the event, poofing into glitter dust and making the entire event explode in a mushroom cloud of glitter. Poppy says that won't happen like that, but that is pretty close.

As Poppy steps out to correct the scissors, she accidentally reveals herself to Branch. Val send the Fuzzlings to apprehend Poppy at the snack table. Smidge tells Poppy to run, but she can't run with scissors and thus walks it. The Fuzzlings are right behind her as Dante goes to cut the ribbon. As the Fuzzlings block her way, she bursts her hair out of the cast and grabs a tree branch, ready to swing out of the way. As she does, she her hair cracks before she remembers that her hair is broken.

She lands near Dante and hands him the correct pair of scissors, but when she falls she bumps the statue. This causes it to topple over and crash. Dante cuts the ribbon.

Poppy is left apologizing, but acknowledges that her hair needed rest and was wrong for coming to the party anyway. Poppy confesses Val and Branch tried to tell her that she had to rest but didn't listen to them, so she has ruined the party. Dante corrects her; she ruined nothing. They reveal a backup statue was made just in case, knowing how well she obsesses over parties. Poppy is shocked that they thought of everything so that the party can always be in good hands. When Poppy heads back to bed; the Trolls come up with an idea: put Poppy's bed at the party so that she can enjoy it.

Smidge signs Poppy's new cast with "the end", ending the episode.

Trivia
[]

  • The title is based on the term "hairline fracture", which is another name for a stress fracture. This is a type of bone damage caused by stress to the bones. It's common among athletes, due to the amount of strain they can put on themselves, but usually not a severe injury unless the wound becomes infected, sometimes not even appearing on X-rays. Indeed, the best cure for these injuries is just rest to prevent it from getting worse.
  • Poppy's obsession with perfection and handling every detail had previously come up in the Trolls: The Beat Goes On! episode "Scrap To The Future". In the episode, Branch was made to make a backup sign, so it's natural he would have a backup statue out of knowing Poppy's habits. In "Hair Ball", it was shown that Poppy so badly obesses with minor details of a party she often misses out on the events of the party, which lead in that episode to Branch to have to trick her onto the dance floor by wallflowering all night until she couldn't stand it anymore and took him to the dance floor.
  • This episode marks TrollsTopia's 9-week anniversary, so the city has been for 9 weeks as of it. In "Girls' Night", Poppy had been asking Val to attend "Girls' Night" for "months". This would mean TrollsTopia had to have been about going only for about 2 months for this statement to be possible, making this episode the start of 3 months of TrollsTopia.
  • The Mr. Dinkles clock is based on the Kit-Cat Klock.
  • Branch previously used a dummy replacement doll in "Prank Day".
  • Dr. Moonbloom was previously introduced in Trolls: The Beat Goes On!. She has a running gag wherein she makes a seemingly dramatic and over-the-top analysis as a doctor, only for her to reveal that her explanation was unrelated to the patient's problem. The doom-and-gloom verdict would cause Trolls to faint, and her jokes were the subject of the episode "Doc Doc, Who's There?".
  • In "Funtography Day", Branch's hair was just fine, and it showed Troll anatomy as having a skeleton inside as expected; for the sake of visual reference, in this episode a bone is placed where Poppy's hair broke.
  • The tic-tac-toe game was a joke about the line in the sand expression.
  • Poppy's escape via song plays on the fact that both Branch and Val are braggers who think highly of themselves; she basically used their egos against themselves. This is not the first time they've both had to face consquences of their self-boasting; in "The Snug-a-lug Situation" they, alongside Laguna Tidepool and Gust Tumbleweed, sang Right Trolls For The Job and later regretted their brags about resisting the Snug-a-lug.
  • Poppy makes a few cultural/historical gags while in "party planning stealth mode".
    • When tossing the vinyl records, she throws them like shurikens. This is based on how ninjas are supposed to do stealthy moves.
    • The blowdart is a reference to the Yagua hunters, who hunted using a blowdart or "punaca" to hunt in a more stealthy manner without scaring prey away.
  • "Left-handed tailor grippers" just means "left-handed fabric scissors". However, the scissors are the incorrect shape for this type. Often a special pair of scissors are used for ribbon cutting ceremonies that are notably sharp and often oversized (though this is purely for visual reasons, as it makes the moment easier to catch on camera). The ribbon used for these ceremonies can be a bit stronger than normal (to avoid it breaking beforehand) but still easy to cut; his scissors should have easily cut the ribbon.
  • Scissors can be sharp, and are even considered unconvential weapons for this reason. Running with them in hand is dangerous, because a subject can fall and accidentally impale scissors them into their own body or someone else's, and the cutting edge is also prone to cause other accidents. This can lead to injury, bleeding out and even death.
  • Poppy is the second Troll to have been seen getting their hair broken; Branch had it first by Satin & Chenille in the Trolls: The Beat Goes On! episode "Pillow War".
  • The left-handed scissors Dante was using would have indeed struggled to cut the ribbon; Dante is holding them on his right hand. But this is not the only inaccuracy with them compared to what Poppy said. The scissors themselves are drawn incorrectly; no matter which side it is, if they were indeed left handed scissors the blades would have been reversed. The top blade is always the part that the thumb rests in, and Dante has his right thumb in the hold for the top blade. Thus, Poppy was wrong: Dante has right-handed scissors not left-handed ones. While this could be put down to a animation error, it's also possible that the scene is hinting that Poppy is worrying for nothing, moments before she causes a disaster.
    • On another note, the scissors that Poppy rushes to give Dante are also right-handed scissors; they switch to being left-handed when she hands them to Dante who still goes to cut them with his right hand, despite the fact cutting with his right hand will be harder then his left hand. This scene can be considered an animation error.
  • In the X-ray, Poppy has a bone in her hair, though there is no bones located in hair.
