From 2017 to 2019, Hasbro produced a number of figurines and sets for the Trolls franchise, with 2018 being the main year of focus for them. They were announced alongside the first season of Trolls: The Beat Goes On!.[1]

These figurines are the third series in the Hasbro Small Figurines range.

Appearances
[]

Nova Swift, Poppy, Branch, Harper, Gia Grooves, Guy Diamond and DJ Suki appear in this line.

The series was most notable for increasing the number of "critter" moulds available for future releases of the Trolls. While many reused older moulds, the number of critters that became available more than doubled. This was because they were the main focus of the series, and every release had at least one "critter" in them. The majority of the released critters served as past releases of "critters" either as pets or decorations that attached to the Trolls' body or hair.

Sculptures
[]

  • All dolls of characters that had seen previous releases reused common Trolls moulds, so they had the same appearance.
  • Nova Swift was the rarest of the dolls. This was her introduction series and her only appearance in the entire small range. She was also the only unique doll of the entire "With Critter" line. Her mould was originally used for Moxie. Her hair is printed in an way identical to the "Hair with Flair" dolls from the movie series.
  • Gia Grooves had a figurine in this series released alongside her previous model in the "Hair-Rising Party Pack" for the "Fuzzy" skin line.
  • The number of pods released by Hasbro as playsets is the highest of any toyline thus far. A total of four were produced (if the "POD'ular Tree" set is counted as a whole). The POD'ular tree was re-released from an earlier set, and all released Pods for this series can attach to it.

Package
[]

There is only one packaging style for this line:

  • Blue packaging - has a blue border and often a image of the Troll that is the focus of the release on it.

The POD'ular Tree was originally not part of this series and was re-released as part of this series later and is the only product therefore with a different packaging.

With Critter[]

Release year: 2017-2019

These figurines included a miniature critter. The critter is placed on a part of the Troll's body and will sit there.

The series was a 6-piece set, but some territories had a different Poppy model released, meaning that 7 possible models could be bought for the series. The color of the critter could vary per release as well. This depended on which wave a Troll was released into, with Poppy's dress and Critter being an example of it.

This series served as a full replacement of the Trolls movie "basic" dolls. The Gia Grooves and Nova Swift dolls serve as their "basic" dolls.

The sets were released between the "Troll Town Series Wave 6"[2] and "Troll Town Series Wave 7"[3]. Branch and Harper are the two most common dolls in this series due to their releases across the waves and both having 1 or 2 dolls per boxcase of each wave. The most popular common character is Poppy, with two models released three times the number of figurines each per box case of each wave. The rarest doll is Nova Swift, due to the fact that each box contained only one single copy of her doll and she was released only in Wave 7.

The series ran from late 2017 until late 2019; during this time, the Netflix dolls were set to take over focus in 2019. A number of unreleased dolls exist in this series, including one each of Archer Pastry and Bella Brightly, as well as additional unreleased versions of Branch and Poppy. A re-release of Bridget's "basic" doll would have also taken place with this set. The missing dolls were featured in the New York Toy Fair 2018. Maddy also had a doll due in this range. The missing dolls of Poppy and Branch were re-releases of past moulds from the earlier movie sets.[4]

The disruption and cancellation of the final waves of this series are mostly linked to the focus from Hasbro to Trolls World Tour.

Critter Pod[]

Release year: 2017

This set goes with the "With Critter" set and "Camp Critter Pod" playset. The Critters in these sets will hook onto various parts of the Pod or sit on the Trolls. Branch's pod has glow-in-the-dark details, and Guy's has spinning disco parts.

Branch's Critter Pod has a hole in the roof, allowing his hair to go through it. This allows the pod to be used for display purposes as well as play.

Both sets have hooks on them so they can hang on the "POD'ular Troll Tree" set, and can therefore replace any of its pods, providing that there's room.

Camp Critter Set[]

The Camp Critter Pod set goes with the "With Critter" and "Critter Pods" sets, and has a number of small critters as well as Poppy's ukulele. Poppy is included in the set.

This set can become part of the "POD'ular Troll Tree" set and act as an extension to that particular set.

Sparkle Surprise Party Pod[]

Sparkle Surprise Party Pod contains Poppy, a number of critters, a tiara-shaped comb and a number of felt accessories for her hair, a cake, a cupcake and some stickers.

The pod is a repeat of Guy Diamonds "Critter Pod" sets pod, therefore it has a hook on it and can hang on the "POP'ular Tree" set, replacing any of its pods, providing there is room.

POD'ular Troll Tree[]

Release year: 2016-2017

The POD'ular Troll Tree contains pods for Poppy (the large red and yellow pod), Guy Diamond (pod with gems in it), Smidge (pod with weights) and DJ Suki (pod with record on stems), though it only comes with Poppy. The pods on the tree have holes in them, with the exception of Poppy's pod. These holes are designed for Troll hair to go through, allowing the set to be used for both play and display purposes. The Glowfly zipline can attach to certain other pods in the "With Critter" series, and is shown attached to the "Camp Critter Set" in some marketing images. Trolls can be clipped on to make it seem like they're using the zip-line to travel. Note that the tree can also house pods from other sets in this range, so it isn't necessary to only use the pods supplied with the set; as long as the hook fits, the pod can be used for the Tree. This includes the previous pods from the Fuzzy series "Poppy and Harper's Pod Pack", as their pods are based on Guy Diamond's pod.

There are two packaged versions of the set, as it was the first of the "With Critter" products to be released and wasn't originally attached to the series. It was later re-released as a "blue box" in the "With Critter" series; this is the version considered part of the series. Despite this, there's virtually no differences between the two versions.
