King Gristle Sr. was the King of the Bergens in the beginning of Trolls. He's the father of his later heir, King Gristle Jr.. He was the King during the event known as The Last Trollstice.

King Gristle Sr. is a dark green Bergen with a dark turquoise nose, some grey hair on his head and all over his body, a grey unibrow, red eyes, and a grey soul patch and stubble on his chin. He wears a purple cape with a gem and fur on it, a red-violet suit, yellow flip-flops, and a golden crown on his head.

As King, King Gristle Sr. had dual responsibilities: leading the fickle, easily distracted Bergens and raising his only son, Gristle Jr., whose primary mission in life was to get his first taste of a Troll.

Relationships

King Gristle Jr.

King Gristle Jr. is King Gristle's only son and next heir to the royal throne of the Bergens. He appears to care about his son very much and was looking forward to seeing him eating his first Troll. After the Trolls' escape, King Gristle Sr. sadly told his son that nothing would make him happy now.

Chef

Chef was the head of the Bergen Castle cooking staff and the royal chef. The position King Gristle Sr. gave her was both sacred and important: to be in charge of the Trolls and to hold Trollstice once a year. The control of the Trolls was an important task, as it allowed her just as much power as it did him as King.

However, when the Trolls escaped, he was quick to use her as an escape goat and put the blame onto her in order to save his own skin. He banished her from Bergen Town, stripping her from her rank and luxuries. Despite this, it was only a temporary solution at best.

Etymology

"Gristle" is a term that refers to a tough, unchewable part of meat.
