"Palentine's Day" is the second segment of the 4th episode of the second season of Trolls: TrollsTopia, and the 33rd overall episode in the series. It premiered on March 18, 2021.
Synopsis[]
It's Palentine's Day, a special holiday where Trolls ask each other to go with them to a party with big, elaborate, Pal-posals. Demo is going to pal-pose to DJ Suki, but is worried that nothing he comes up with is going to be epic enough.
Plot[]
Everyone is gathered for Poppy's big announcement: Palentine's Day. But in their excitement, Smidge and DJ Suki explain Palentine's Day is a day where Trolls are given either a blue or white heart. Those with a blue heart, "Askers", seeks out their "Askee"'s photo in their heart, who has a white heart. The holiday is a day about friendship and the Palentine's Day, and "Askers" must ask their target to be their palentine in an over-the-top proposal. A flashback reveals how Gia Grooves once interrupted a Glitterball game to propose to Guy Diamond. Poppy arrives, but can see her work was already done. So she just ends the announcement there, and Synth declares it the greatest announcement of all time. Demo has DJ Suki as his Palentine target and says the epicness shall begin.
All around TrollsTopia, Palentine Askers are asking their Askees to be their Palentine, and Poppy is happy with the result. Demo grabs Poppy's attention as he has come up with a means to propose to DJ Suki; from inside a piñata. Poppy comments how original that is, until both of them hear Smidge went to break a piñata with Synth inside. This means Demo no longer has an original idea. Demo has a whole list of ideas but doesn't believe any of them are epic enough for his "pal-posal" to DJ Suki. He believes he can take a pitiful small idea and make it epic instead.
His first idea is to pal-pose astride a noble steed, but he decides that rather than one steed he will use a whole herd, which turns out to be a bad idea. His next idea is a mini clock-work Demo; he produces a giant robot instead, which terrifies everyone. Poppy takes the list and says all the ideas are already sweet and any of them will do. But Demo is not convinced, and now wants to do them all. This causes Poppy to shed an awe-inspiring tear.
Demo and DJ Suki are in a hot air balloon with DJ blindfolded. DJ guesses what is going on, but Demo keeps from saying it, stating that all will be revealed soon. He puts a giant pair of earmuffs on her and tells Poppy what he is up to. Below them, the other Trolls have spelt her name in glowing hair, to what DJ Suki he hopes will say "hey that's cool". At that moment, a quartet of Classical Trolls will play and birds will be released. The balloon then recites a poem from memory (or wasn't aware of that). Then glitter fireworks will burst around. He will finally ask her if she will be her Palentine, which will allow Poppy to snap a picture of the moment in order to immortalize it forever.
The balloon asks about the fireworks as they will shoot in the air; where they are right now. As she says that, the balloon is suddenly flashed with fireworks going off. The basket of the balloon swings and DJ is tossed out, causing DJ to ask Demo what's going on. Demo goes after her using his hair as a glider, but as he does so not only are the fireworks still going off but birds fly by him. The quartet hypes him to focus and he continues to try and catch DJ. DJ's earphones and blindfold come off and she realizes she is plummeting to her death.
He catches her just in time to avoid her death and apologizes for his Palentine proposal going wrong. He promises the next time it will go smoother, as she hasn't seen it all yet. However, the balloon can't even recite her poem and has been left deflated on a nearby rock after the fireworks. DJ explains that this was all way too much; it wasn't the plummeting to her death but all of it. DJ takes her leave, leaving Demo unable to ask his pal-posal. Poppy lands next to him and they talk. Demo just wanted her to feel special and Poppy says it doesn't have to be epic to make someone feel special, but come from the heart.
DJ Suki sits alone in her pod that night still upset from Demo's failed proposal. Demo plays music outside on a guitar and then using her own Wooferbug. This works and DJ appreciates his song, and considers it epic, which flatters Demo and she finally accepts his Palentine's Day proposal. He shouts out that she said "yes", and that he made a lot of personal growth in the whole ordeal.

Trivia[]
- The title is a pun between Valentine's Day and "pal".
- The proposal is a reference to marriage proposal; Valentine's Day is a popular day to propose.
- Demo's attempted palposal is based on the cultural phenomenon of the over-the-top marriage proposals, where the intention is to impress the person they want to propose to show affection, or put them on an uncomfortable spot where they are pressured to say "yes" more than a simpler proposal would have just because of the effort put into it. It also references the fact sometimes these over-the-top attempts go wrong, resulting unintentional consequences.
- The steed is a reference to "the Prince on a White horse", a metaphor meaning "perfect man". It has become a trope in story-writing to signal who the "hero" or "love interest" of the story is.
- The balloon is based on Sheila Balloon, but with a different design.
- Demo's song is a reference to the act to serenade someone.
- A storyboard animatic version of Demo's song sequence can be seen here.
