Pennywhistle is a tiny little tin whistle that lives in Symphonyville. Although she isn’t the loudest member of the orchestra, Pennywhistle always manages to make her voice heard among all the other instruments in town. She has a permanently sunny demeanor, and she’s always "tooting" for the underdog. A favored character among cast and crew, Pennywhistle, voiced by brilliant comedienne Yi, would actually not have a place in a traditional orchestra. "Our composer, Teddy Shapiro, was struggling with the fact that Penny’s not a woodwind," says director Walt Dohrn. "We had this backstory about how she’s a wayward traveler who wandered into Symphonyville, and they adopted her. We wanted a level of authenticity, so we had to craft a history for Penny. You don’t find that out, but we were prepared!"[1] |

Personality[]
Pennywhistle is a mild-mannered and meek instrument who speaks of things in with a slight dramatic flare. When offered to go with Poppy, she wanted to stay behind to rebuild the town, knowing it was a futile task, but tried to remain optimistic.

She speaks very fondly of her Trolls, and is heartbroken when they're abducted by the Rock Trolls.
