The 40-page book was sold only with the special Target version of the DVD

The book reflects some of the issues with the movie itself. Some finer details like named Trolls are missing, simply because when the book was put together there were incomplete elements. Other sources, such as Shreeya Shetye's ArtStation gallery, show pages not included in the Target version.

The full version has listed characters who weren't even included in movie promotions and additional media, such as the name of Amp along with the bios of her, Sid Fret and Carol. The book also lists a character known as "Coral Blush" in other merchandise as "Tadd", providing a more official source for the name, since merchandise often only carries some early promotion and movie design information that later will be corrected. One issue with the book, however, occurred similarly with The Art of DreamWorks Trolls, in which which only certain elements of the final version of the movie are listed, i.e. many of the earlier storyline developments such as plot changes never made it into the book. These plot changes have instead been revealed elsewhere.

Currently, the full version is on sale. Copies that can be bought as of April 2023 are found on sites such as e-Bay, etsy and Amazon, and were gifted to individuals who took part in movie-related interviews like stars of the film or to employees working on the film, making copies few and rare for the time being. In 2021, it was witnessed that typically a copy of the book would be list for $200-$400 starting price; The Art of DreamWorks Trolls in comparison was sold at the time brand new for typically just over $20.
