Synopsis

Plot
[]

Poppy opens up the episode with a Scrapbook introduction on Trolls like making friends. She then corrects herself by stating she learnt that there were all kinds of Trolls out there. She then corrects herself again and states her people recently discovered their world was bigger than they thought; she lists the other separate Tribes as Country Western Trolls, Classical Trolls, Funk Trolls, Techno Trolls and Hard Rock Trolls. She corrects herself once more and backs herself up further. She begins at 14 billion years ago when the cosmos were still new, to which she is interrupted by Smidge, who says that she backed up too far.

Poppy states that it has been weeks since she found about the other Tribes and she is starting to feel like they're becoming acquaintances. DJ Suki points out that the issue is they live so far away. Poppy then explains her ideal is to make "TrollsTopia" and bring Trolls from each Tribe to live with the Pop Trolls. Everyone is excited at Poppy's plan, except the voice of dissent is not present - Branch. This cues Poppy to get Branch's opinion, and he voices his usual criticism at Poppy's ideas and tells her to be realistic. He states the issue with the plan is convincing hundreds of Trolls to go along and uproot themselves.

Poppy reacts with dismay, but springs back by saying that she actually did think of this, showing 5 invites. She will invite one ambassador from each Tribe to visit to sell her idea to, who will then go back and gather their friends to come. She explains via a cupcake metaphor that she plans to show them how fun it would be, then lead them to hope that they will stay wanting more. Poppy plans to show them how much better and much more fun life is where they live, hoping that they will simply be unable to say no. While this has the entire Pop Village excited, voice of dissent Branch is still cueing his cynisms.

The first ambassador is Holly Darlin' from the Country Trolls. She leaps in and causes Branch to react out of the way. She introduces herself, saying how excited she is to meet a Queen, and notes Branch is cute and then takes a selfie with Poppy. Next is Synth from the Techno Trolls, a party lover who shakes his head to the beat; when Poppy asks him if it ever stops, he simply says "sometimes". Next to arrive is Dante Crescendo, the royal composer of the Classical Trolls who arrives under a music orchestra of sound. Next is Lownote Jones from the Funk Trolls, whose low voice impresses Smidge upon making his entrance. Val Thundershock from the Rock Trolls, whom Poppy mentions was sent by Queen Barb, arrives as the last ambassador, and messes with Poppy straight away, with Branch liking her for her ability to throw off Poppy's positivity.

With the five ambassadors present, they show a 39-course dessert banquet. Glitter falls from the sky; as unknown to the ambassadors, Poppy has Glitter Trolls farting glitter to make it seem like it falls from the sky. A montage of events begins, wherein Poppy shows everyone how much fun things are and this impresses the ambassadors. With them appearing to have fun, Poppy now wants to show them the cupcake, and moves in to show them her idea, only for Val to "meh" at what she has done so far. So far, nothing Poppy has done is fun to a Rock Troll, since they believe in being reckless and breaking rules. Val has had enough, and goes to take a nap stating there will be no encore.

Poppy is feeling down as she forget that some Trolls "prefer brownies to cupcakes". She won't pitch the idea without all five ambassadors on her side. Branch begins his "voice of dissent" cue in, and Smidge shoves him away as it isn't the time for him now.

Trying to do things in Val's way, they sneak into the pod the ambassadors are staying in and take the sleeping Val away. At a stage, they have set up Rock equipment and wake her up by playing a guitar note. Poppy tries to show Val that the Pop Trolls can rock, but in the process they go too far. The pod where the other ambassadors are sleeping is destroyed.

While apologizing to them, Poppy accidentally reveals the "show them the cupcake" routine and thus makes them angry. As they pack their things to leave, Poppy is upset she never even got to pitch her idea. Branch sits next to her, to which she says that he was right. It turns out that despite her misconceptions all along, Branch fully supported her, but wanted her to be realistic as he communicated badly a sarcastic tone. He tells her that it's one of her best ideas, and it's okay to be realistic and worth not giving up on.

Poppy goes back to the five ambassadors and this time gives her pitch, adding Branch's suggestions of being realistic in the mix and noting that it will be a struggle to learn to get along. When Val expresses her usual reaction, she states that Poppy says that she as a Rock Troll is hard to understand; Poppy throws it back at her and honestly says she is. Holly points out that Poppy is asking a lot of their Tribes, but Poppy admits that she gets it's a lot. Her realistic approach wins over the ambassadors, who admit it sounds like a fun idea.

Soon, hundreds of Trolls from each Tribe show up, and thus begins TrollsTopia.

Trivia
[]

  • This is the first episode to air in 2020 and the first episode to start off the 2020s.
  • This is the only full length episode in the series, and the second overall full length episode after "Party Crashed".
  • This is the only episode to not feature the series' theme song, in which it jumps straight ahead to the episode's title card instead, right after the DreamWorks logo.
  • With the exception of Creek and Fuzzbert, this is one of the few Trolls: TrollsTopia episodes in which the entire Trolls-era membership of The Snack Pack are present together.
  • The series keeps up Chenille's habit of putting Satin down.
  • The note-shaped critters that accompany Dante resemble Otamatone.
  • The "Classic Vanilla" ice cream is based on the name for the traditional vanilla cake recipe, usually called "classic vanilla". It's often used as a basis for simple cakemaking, and is considered one of the most reliable of cake recipes with one of the most versatile uses. It is usually layered and is often topped with butterscotch icing covering it.
  • The "Dark, Dark, Dark Chocolate" is a joke. Dark chocolate is a bittersweet flavoring that's usually very rich in flavor. Cocoa is bitter, but when used in cake recipes has a sweet taste caused by the various other ingredients. The "dark, dark" bit is a joke about its nature and the Rock Trolls.
  • Holly's favorite ice cream flavor is "Chocolate, Vanilla and Mesquite BBQ". It's a joke based on Neapolitan ice cream.
  • The amplifier has an "11" on it. This is a reference to the This Is Spinal Tap phrase "Crank it up to 11!", which refers to the fact that ampifiers only go from 0 to 10.
  • The episode's introduction was described by Matthew Beans as being one of their "fattest" episodes, as they had a lot to take in due to them having to recap Trolls World Tour.[1]
