The Trolls Trollpedia Equality Practices Guidelines discusses the equality of users on this wiki.
Please note that like all wikis hosted by Fandom, the Trolls Trollpedia follows the strict rules and guidelines about equality.
Please read here for more information on Fandom's policy about hate and general editing etiquette.
See our canon policy, which is also related to the topic of this page.
Equality
Equality on a wiki is the idea that all users are equal despite any special circumstances. While the Trolls Trollpedia recognizes and accepts the fact that certain individuals do have special needs, are of younger and differing ages, and vary in the quality of writing skills, these individuals cannot and will not be considered exempt from the standards of conduct and the policies that all members of this wiki are required to abide by.
To that end, no physical or mental condition, age, or difference in writing skills will be considered cause to suspend the enforcement of any Trolls Trollpedia policy or guideline. This includes the blocking policy and the deletion policy.
Equity and Individuality
Although equality is applied to all users regardless of special conditions, their circumstances are still respected. People of different needs, ranging from neurodivergence, physical or mental health, to ages, are all protected under the rules of this wiki.
Any verbal or non-verbal assaults aimed at specific groups are strictly forbidden. Anyone who contravenes the rule of respecting individuality, whether on comments, message walls or pages, will be severely warned and blocked.
Gender Identity
The wiki follows the Gender Identity Guidelines, meaning that characters and real life people should be identified under the gender terms or pronouns they assume, this includes "she/her", "he/him" and "they/them", etc. While editors and visitors may have different opinions, this is not open for discussion and Fandom has the full right to step in and ban editors, including staff, who do not respect this guideline. The only discussions in regards to gender related matters the wiki allows is ones confirming or questioning sources behind a gender - discussions should only be focused on correcting mistakes that have been accidently made in regards to a page subject and nothing more.
Currently, there are no characters in the franchise that have a gender related matter. Editors and readers should not edit pages to add their personal opinions and headcanon to a page to add their headcanon or fanfiction. This is not subject to debate due to Fandoms guidelines and works both ways - do not gender trans or non-binary characters as male or female, as well as gender male and female characters as trans or non-binary unless it is canon.
Also, please be aware that Trolls Trollpedia does not recognize arguments claiming that transgender people do not exist or are illegitimate. Trolls Trollpedia is not the place to discuss or voice an opinion on such matters and such attempts to discuss this will be deleted as it is considered inappropriate.
Ethnic Equity
The wiki accepts all kinds of cultural identities and cultures from different ethnic backgrounds. Ethnic diversity is a key to bring camaraderie for the community. Therefore, contents or conversation targeting any user's ethnicity is strictly forbidden.
Examples of ethnic discrimination, which is prohibited in this wiki, include:
- Ethnic slurs;
- Racist messages and contents;
- Stereotypes on other cultures;
- Any kinds of phobia on certain ethnicity and races.
Religious Respect
People from different religions are accepted in this wiki. Thus, any form of religious discrimination is forbidden.
Examples include:
- Religious intolerance;
- Religious phobia, such as Islamophobia and Christianophobia;
- Forcing personal beliefs or your own values against a person's religious faith, regardless of having same religion or not;
- Using religious slurs.
LGBTQIA+
In addition to the gender issues, please note that Fandom also supports LGBTQIA+ in general and has a number of resources which can be found here, including hotlines, etc.
Please do not harass, bully, or otherwise spread hate towards anyone because of gender identity or sexuality.
Disruptions
Any attempts to go against this guideline risk warnings and a ban - all staff members are not exempt. Please report any issues to staff of this wiki. If a staff member is the issue, please speak to them and express concerns. If they do not respond or are unreasonable, approach another member of the Trolls Trollpedia staff. If this issue is still not resolved, take this directly to a Fandom staff member. If a visitor or editor is the concern, please do not go to Fandom unless a Trolls Trollpedia member of staff does not respond within a reasonable time (for example, a week - a month). In both cases, please give adequate time for conversations, this is simply due to the fact not every individual involved may be available to respond at a moments notice.
Although this is not a policy with traditional violation consequences, any staff members can and will enforce the disruption policy, should an aforementioned user or their family/friends disrupt the wiki by demanding differing treatment. In addition, if any other policy is violented alongside the Disruption policy taking effect, this will be considered or noted when making any decision. Note that deliberate hate speech against individual or group may result in a instant ban without warning.
Please note that the claim "But DreamWorks said so!", or such a claim about a staff member working on DreamWorks Trolls or for DreamWorks themselves having said something, carries no weight without a source and can be considered "hearsay". Therefore, please do not use this method to argue a case for or against a character's status or the lore of the series. Trolls Trollpedia cannot add "hearsay" as it will go against the Canon Policy. No matter what back any claim up with a source such as a tweet, url or book title and possibly if known a page. In the case of books, please include a ISBN number if known.
Known concerns
The following is noted concerns raised by readers, fans and editors and the current status on the related matters. This includes explanations for decisions made by the wiki and explanations as to why things are written as they are and must be backed up with evidence. Please note our decision is not final and is open for updates and debate, so long as things are backed up by data we will correct any mistakes made. If you feel any of these are incorrect and you have the information to correct mistakes, please do not hesitate to share and correct us on such matters.
Please keep all discussions civilized and respectful - do not presume that staff members have deliberately added an mistake when found on purpose, as it may be a simple case of human error and not a result of members inserting personnel opinions. Please remember the previous sections and give time for discussions to occur.
Staff members will also record any investigations or confirmations of sources here as well and leave notes to their best abilities on the situation. Note that investigations do not end with the final notes and are always open for further investigations, once questioned unless stated.
Smidge
As far as the source material is concerned, Smidge is female and not a transgender. Her gender has been brought into question over her deep vocals by fans, but so far the only note towards this is that Smidge is the polar opposite of Biggie and the pair are noted to be a design expectations and visual gag. If DreamWorks or another source material related to them say otherwise, we will change the details on the page accordingly - however, currently Smidge identifies as "female" only and therefore should be identified only as that until then.
Note: by Bureaucrat Angel Emfrbl as of 16th June, 2023, I have rechecked The Art of DreamWorks Trolls and all other sources to see if there is any suggestion of transgenderism. In all sources, Smidge is only ever referred to as "female" or "she". On a side note, in Trolls: The Beat Goes On! Milton Moss was in a relationship with Smidge and the series itself treats her as a female Troll. With no evidence of Smidge being a transfemale, the conclusion is that she is female. This will be updated if DreamWorks ever confirms otherwise. Even if Smidge is indeed a transfemale but has not been declared, she has only ever been identified using female pronouns and by the rules of Fandom must be identified by her official gender - a reminder to all that this is not up for negotiation at all due to Fandoms own guidelines on the matter of gender.
Note: by Bureaucrat Angel Emfrbl as of 28th July, 2023, that adding to the above note, with Smidge having been noted to use female pronouns, we can also confirm using Trolls: The Beat Goes On! at least for now, that Smidge's sexuality is at least heterosexual and she is attracted at least to the opposite gender. There is no confirmation, nor evidence to suggest any other sexuality. This is subject to change if anything else is noted in regards to Smidge's gender identity or sexuality status.
Queen Poppy
It has been reported that DreamWorks has noted her sexuality as Bisexual. The wiki cannot add details until then due to lack of sources, and apologizes for not adding this until we have confirmed this is indeed true and is not intended as any form of hate or discrimination on the matter. So far, requests by Bureaucrats for source from other fans have led to no URLs. We will update the page as soon as the source is found, if you know where to find it, please let the wiki staff member know either directly on their user pages, on Discord or Queen Poppy's page comment section. Please bear with us until the source is found.
Note: by Bureaucrat Angel Emfrbl, as of 7th of June, 2023, checks to the Twitter account of DreamWorks Trolls has produced no indication of any sexuality for Poppy as far back as 2021. This does not mean there is no source on the Twitter account or at all, but it can be confirmed that DreamWorks Trolls has not been re-affirmed any sexuality for Poppy. Trolls Trollpedia will continue to search for the source.
Note: by Bureaucrat Angel Emfrbl as of 15th June, 2023, as a note to all editors and readers, since Poppy is in a relationship and is in love with Branch, we can confirm canonically she is at least interested in Trolls of the opposite gender. Likewise, the franchise also confirms Branch himself is in love with Poppy and is also interested in Trolls of the opposite gender. There is no evidence to confirm or deny any interest in Trolls of the same gender for either. All other relationship claims have been platonic (friendship) level relationships and not romantic. The wiki will update if the status quo changes.
Note: by Bureaucrat Angel Emfrbl as of 16th June, 2023, the pairing of Branch x Poppy was affectionally dubbed "Broppy" by fans after Trolls - as of Trolls: Holiday in Harmony and Trolls Band Together respectively, the fan term is now also acknowledged by DreamWorks staff members Walt Dohrn and Gina Shay.[1] As a result, it can be presumed all alternative sexualities are either works or suggestions of fanfiction from fans, headcanon or current left unanswered/unexplored by DreamWorks themselves, but currently not considered Canon. The wiki will continue to update if the status quo changes, but there is no evidence at all to back up otherwise from official sources that have been found by the Bureaucrat, ending the investigation for now on this matter.
Queen Barb
There are claims on she is a lesbian made by fans. DreamWorks has never mentioned canonically any sexuality straight, lesbian or otherwise, for this character. This claim mostly comes from stereotyping of her appearance, as most fans note her appearance when they claim she is. No claims on her page can be made on the matter until DreamWorks states her canonical sexuality.
Guy Diamond
This mostly concerns him giving birth to Tiny Diamond, however, details on Troll reproduction remain unclear. No further comments can be made on the matter. Please can all readers, fans and editors of the wiki be aware of the fictious nature of the Trolls as a species.
Veneer and Floyd
Both characters are coded as gay by fans. Most based upon their voice actors and the fact both male characters have a earring on their right ear. Some take this as a sign both characters are gay. Earring on the right ear for men are considered fashionable, while on the left, unfashionable. A stereotype is that gay men care about fashion while straight men do not. Ergo, in media a male character with a earring on their right ear is normally signaling someone who is gay. For the moment. This combined with both having gay voice actors, is believed both characters are coded to be gay. However, different cultures do not share the same stereotypes and DreamWorks has yet to comment on the placement, so though the wiki is aware of this with no confirmation it is impossible to make any statements.
Note: by Bureaucrat Angel Emfrbl, as of 25th of October 2023. One of the issues with this sort of thing is there is such a thing as Queerbaiting. This is where a character is purposedly designed to be vague or otherwise unclear on their LGBT+ status so fans believe they are without it ever being stated they are or otherwise are not. However, due to backlash when it comes to childrens' media from when it comes to LGBT+ representation from concerned parents and cultures with no tolerance towards LGBT+, it may never be confirmed. This makes it impossible to flat out state anything on either character as one or both may not actually be gay, though it is highly likely they are meant to be coded to be it. RuPaul Charles, a Drag Queen also voices a character in Trolls Band Together (Miss Maxine), making it more highly this is the case, though once again RuPaul's character is also unconfirmed.
Note: by Bureaucrat Angel Emfrbl, as of 16th of November 2023. A popular pairing is of these two characters and therefore this further note is related to their status as being gay or not. Veneer as a Mount Rageon is a teenager, meanwhile Floyd is likely in his 30s, making the pairing Ephebophilic in nature and questionable. The pair are seen paired up commonly together, but their age gap means they are unlikely to be a couple as that would mean DreamWorks would be promoting a teenager, a minor, with a adult who is at least 20 years older then him. Gay relationship or not, in the real world this is against the law in many countries such as the USA.
Note: by Bureaucrat Diana lover, as of 13th of December 2023. It is to remark a further reason of why Floyd and Veneer mustn't be paired romantically. The other major reason is Veneer is a character, whether the staff and crew of the franchise deny or not, who has arguably undergone implied traumatic domestic abuse from someone who is older than him, in this case being Velvet. Hence, Floyd is the first person in his life to help him recover emotionally and mentally in the long run as a friend and trusted adult figure. This is associated with the issue of Ephebophilia, which involves questionable relationships with huge age gap, as subsequently in real-life affect those who are involved with such questionable phenomenon have their mental health ruined, or suffer from even further domestic abuse, more often than not. Please consider the characters' feelings and perspectives, as nobody in the real life want to be forcibly paired with someone who is platonically helping them to heal emotionally.
Note: by Bureaucrat Diana lover, as of 13th of December 2023. Another popular reason behind this pairing is that both voice actors of Floyd (Troye Sivan) and Veneer (Andrew Rannells) are gay. However, in real life both Sivan and Rannells also have a substantial age gap, of approximately 17 years of age differences, especially with Rannells having a romantic partner. Imagine if you are two voice actors being forcibly shipped together, despite having personal lives and relationships. This is another reason why Floyd and Veneer should not be paired romantically, since this real-life concern is pertained to their canon age gap (with Veneer being born during and/or sometime after the initial BroZone disbandment).
Boom
Boom is Gay.
Note: by Bureaucrat Angel Emfrbl - was added without reference onto the wiki, after a quick investigation and a temporary removal while I searched, the source of the claim was found. However, its noted as "first out Troll". This also confirms that no Troll before Boom was confirmed of any LGBT+ status, but it doesn't mean they were not and that they just were not confirmed. This also marks the Trolls first confirmed LGBT+ character regardless of the situation. There is not further comments to be made and this can be considered case.
Note: by Bureaucrat Angel Emfrbl on 16th of November, 2023. I'm going to mark this as "case closed" and there is no need for any further investigations since Boom was confirmed. Going to add this the editors and admins of the wiki stress that if something is said on Twitter, Instagram or any other website a source must be supplied because we can be accused of making things up without these sources of information. A source can not be disputed and confirms information that is correct. If a source can't be confirm, that means a information (correct or not) has to be removed. As a reminder, this act is not intended to be anti-LGBT+ - its intended to prevent mistakes. We have had fans add things to page that were later proven false include LGBT+ related content. In addition, there are anti-LGBT+ fans out there who would also removed LGBT+ content if found. A source 100% confirms that information must stay, whereas if a anti-LBGT+ editor removes it, we can't re-add it and cannot deal a punishment for its removal because its lacking a source. A relationship like Poppy x Branch takes place on screen and cannot be denied - information on Social media can. In addition, as this has happened with Trolls sources of information can be subject to time and lost. Websites like Wayback Machine can be used to confirm old sources if their removed, which is why it is so important to source information.
