This policy page lists all the rules related to deleting pages on this wiki.
There are a few, limited, special cases where pages may be deleted speedily or files "on sight". Users can ask for an admin or content moderator to delete such a page (mainspace, user blog, file) simply by adding a {{Delete}} tag. Discussions moderators can only delete comments.
A list of pages to be deleted can be found at Category:Candidates for deletion.
When deleting, check the page history first to see if you can revert to an older version instead of deleting the entire page.
Deleted articles are automatically listed in the deletion log.
General Rules
If a created page violates any of the following, it should immediately be deleted:
- Page contains any fanon content.
- Made to vandalize the wiki, whether it be spam, advertising, or inappropriate. If the page was made to disturb the wiki, it needs to be deleted.
- Content is unverifiable and does not have any source included.
- Page consists of content in any language other than English.
- Page is extremely generic. Pages with titles such as "Lobsters", "Doughnuts", or "Raccoons" are completely useless to the wiki.
- Page is not relevant to the DreamWorks Trolls franchise, or has no evidence of existence upon its topic.
Criteria of candidates for speedy deletion
- No meaningful or relevant content or history (e.g. random characters, spam).
- Copyright violation.
- Pure vandalism (see also dealing with vandalism).
- Very short pages with little context.
- Lengthy pages where content was split into multiple pages.
- Reposted content that was already deleted according to policy.
- Inappropriate content.
- Broken redirects or ones caused by typos during a page move.
- Duplicate images, pages, or comments.
- Off-topic or pages that are unrelated to the wiki.
- Housekeeping purposes. (i.e. deleting unused files or redirects, redirected files, empty categories, etc.)
- User blog, sandbox page, or comment on request of the user, where there is no administrative need to retain the page.
- Any reason that breaks from the Rules and Regulations page not listed from above.
Deleting a Character Page
If a page is made about a character and violates any of the following, the page should be deleted:
- The character plays an minor role in an installment.
- If a character has a major role in an installment, or has a minor role in multiple installments, the page should remain.
- The character does not have a speaking role.
- The character has no official name.
Minor characters that fit in this criteria will be added to related pages.
Deleting a Location/Object Page
If a page is made about a location or object/item and violates any of the following, the page should be deleted:
- The location or object/item has been seen in one installment.
- If a location or object/item has been seen in more than one installment, the page should remain.
- The location or object has no official name or is generic.
Locations and objects/items that fit in this rule may be added to related pages.
Unsure If A Page Should Be Deleted?
Sometimes, a page will be made where there are more variables to consider. When this occurs, consider doing the following:
- Include a {{Delete}} template on the page in question.
- From here, a debate can take place as to why or why not the page should be deleted.
Pages That Should Not Be Deleted
- Article stubs. Just because an article is short on content doesn't mean it has to be deleted. These article stubs have the potential to become a full article.
- If an article stub violates anything in the deletion policy, it should be removed.
- When a page has the {{Cleanup}} template, it is to remain on the wiki. These pages are in need of immediate attention and should not be deleted.
- Vandalized existing pages. If a page was recently vandalized, the edit(s) simply needs to be reverted.
Non-Article Pages To Delete
- Unnecessary/useless categories.
- Useless, broken or leftover redirects.
- Images or videos that go against the wiki's Media Policy or unused files.
